한나라 "외신들,악의적 보도 삼가 요망" 영문 논평

일부 외신 경제위기 추측성 보도,오보에 여당차원대응

[프라임경제] 이제는 정당 대변인도 글로벌화 물결의 중심에 서는 게 숙명인 시대? 한나라당이 영문으로 논평을 내는 이례적인 행보를 10일 선보였다.

일부 외신이 우리 나라의 경제 위기 임박설을 과장 보도하거나 잘못된 자료를 이용, 예측하는 상황에 대해 금융 당국이 강하게 해명하기로 한 가운데, 한나라당이 여당으로서 지원에 적극 나선 것인데, 차명진 한나라당 대변인은 아예 영문으로 외신을 위한 눈높이 논평을 작성, 10일 발표했다.

The majority of foreign press are very friendly to Korea.

They are very helpful in letting the international community know about the good aspects of Korea.

I feel thankful to them.

대부분의 외국 언론들은 한국에게 친절하다.

한국의 좋은 면을 국제사회에 널리 알리는데 많은 도움을 주고 있다.

감사하다.

But then there are the exceedingly few foreign press which are not like that.

They sometimes do malicious or irresponsible reporting that distorts the facts completely.

극히 일부이지만 그렇지 못한 외국 언론들이 있다.

한국에 대해 악의적인 태도를 갖고 있거나 무책임하기까지 해서 사실을 180도 뒤집어 놓는 보도를 종종 한다.

As the financial crisis is engulfing the world so fast and so strong, we cannot say Korea is the only country which remains safe.

But our situation is not critical enough to be the target of irresponsible ridicule.

Compared to other countries, Korea has a relatively solid financial system and sufficient foreign reserves.

The nation's leader and the people are standing together to overcome these obstacles.

지금 국제 금융위기의 파도가 워낙 크고 거세어서 한국만이 안전지대에 있다고 장담할 수는 없다.

그렇다고 무책임한 조롱을 받을 만큼의 위기상황도 아니다.

한국은 다른 나라에 비해 상대적으로 금융구조도 견실하고 외환보유고도 충분하다.

지도자나 국민들도 이 어려움을 헤쳐 나가기 위해 잘 뭉쳐있다.

Criticism based on facts we can accept and think of them as constructive.

But I hope that you will refrain from reporting baseless allegations.

Those kind of reports will not make the Korean economy collapse, and I rather am worried that one or two of those irresponsible reports may create mistrust of the entire foreign press.

You know the saying that one rotten apple can spoil the whole barrel.

사실에 근거한 비판은 쓴 약으로 생각하고 받아들이겠다.

그러나 근거 없는 주장으로 가득 찬 악의적 보도는 삼가길 바란다.

그런 보도가 나온다고 한국경제가 무너지지도 않거니와 한두 개의 그런 보도 때문에 외국 언론 전체가 불신 받게 되지나 않을까 걱정된다.

한국 속담에 어물전 망신 꼴뚜기가 시킨다는 말이 있다.
